A Candid Conversation with Emmy-winning Trans Actress Laverne Cox

Three-time Emmy-nominee Laverne Cox rose to international fame for her groundbreaking role on Orange is the new black. I spoke with the celebrated transgender actress and activist on a range of topics, including transgender representation in the media, the rise in violence against trans women, her new collaboration with BAND-AID® Brand (RED) to combat HIV/AIDS, and her documentary 'Disclosure' that examines the history of transgender representation in Hollywood films.

I wear many hats as a copywriter, including those of a creative director, content producer, videographer, and social media influencer. From 2011 to 2016 I was an integral part of the internal marketing department at The Vitamin Shoppe - first as a copywriter, then promoted to become the manager of marketing and brand copy. 

Celebrity-driven pop culture definitely takes a front row seat in my world and my secret dream job might be to host a show like TMZ.  In the meantime however, as I await a call from Kim Kardashian, I would love the opportunity to work with strong brands and create great work in the digital space.  So call me and let's chat about your next project ... or Jennifer Lawrence's upcoming Oscar gown.
